2023 News

August – In Spring of 2020 FortisBC contacted EMM regarding a potential upgrade to the area around their Compressor Station Gas Plant. This upgrade is called the Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project and would construct a new transmission system from Coquitlam to Squamish to the Woodfibre LNG facility. In July, the Executive was again contacted by FortisBC with the news the project was moving forward and there would be areas around the Compressor Station that would become inaccessable to the public. This will eventually affect our Sidewinder trail. We will post more once we learn more. Stay tuned!

2017 News

February – Eagle Mountain has been impassable due to snow and remains closed for riding and trail work, but the melt is coming and we will be in there soon.  In the meantime we have been busy working on our Section(56) application.  There is a lot of paperwork to get through as well as meeting with other stakeholders including the city of Coquitlam and local environmental organizations.    The timeline for the process is now looking like it will stretch into at least this fall, and so RST-BC will be issuing Letters of Understanding that authorize work to be done in the meantime.  EMM has now received our LOU (good through Dec 31) after a great deal of assistance from RST-BC.   This allows us to continue with vital trail work.. just as soon as the weather permits.

We are still short a number of members who have not renewed for this year.  If you haven’t, please take the time to do so – it’s cheap and memberships and donations are our only source of funding for important things like insurance and signage.

There will be trail days starting up again soon, and we have a joint trail day planned with TORCA to address some wet sections of Upper Decapitator.

Section 56 application work is ongoing, though we should have a final proposal out the door by mid April if all goes according to plan.

Section 57 Application Update

In September of this year, Eagle Mountain Moto applied to Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RST-BC) for authorization under Section 57 of the Forest and Range Practices Act, to maintain and rehabilitate a section of the Eagle Mountain dirt bike trail network.

We have been granted a temporary Section 57 authorization until November 7th to work on three items in the loop: Cleaning up old TTF’s (mountain bike stunts) on The Mistress, rehabilitating old stunts on The Mistress to Whistler Standards, and cleanup of upper Decapitator trail, between Roger’s pass and Mossom Creek Trail. These trails are all part of the loop proposed in our Section 57 application.

Work has been ongoing to complete these items, and our next trail day is Sunday October 30th. Members, we need your help! Please see the Forum for more information!
